MONTAGE
RAIL HOOK

Design Goal: A simple hook with emphasis on the rail. Hooks will eventually be covered by hanging items, but the rail stays visible. The bent wood creates soft movement on the wall, especially when hung in multiples.

PROTOTYPING
MATERIAL & SIZING
Since this hook would be sold online, the item would have to fit inside a Amazon e-com package.
To make the rail, wood veneer was laminated together to mimic the bends from the final plywood. A mold was used to clamp the wood in place while drying.
WEIGHT TESTING
HOOK PLACEMENT
Made prototypes out of laminating wood veneer to create appropriate shape of rail. Hooks were 3D printed to create a sturdy test.
Placement of hook was determined by the distribution of weight and the sag points on the rail and by the 3D printed hook.
Each hook was speced to hold 5lbs each for a total of 30lbs.
